For 25 years Atlas Copco Energas has blazed a trail in the Gas and Process industry; and since day one, the Cologne-based company has displayed its high level of customer commitment on a daily basis. To celebrate this milestone, the customer magazine “G&P Stories” takes a look back at 25 years of growth, innovation, change and success in the business with its special Anniversary Edition.
In the “My Personal Milestone” and “Living Innovation” pieces, the magazine highlights the people and products that have helped Atlas Copco Energas reach its position as a global leader in the turbo compressor and expansion turbine market. It shines a spotlight on technological developments and key moments in the company’s history and speaks to the people – from the mailman to the president – that made Atlas Copco Energas the company it is today.
Merging expertise
In its opening article, the magazine traces the story of Atlas Copco Energas back to 1984. That year, Atlas Copco acquired Energas who up until July 16, 1984, were part of Linde AG. By merging Atlas Copco’s expertise in compressors with Energas’ strengths in cooling technology and plant construction, the foundations for a successful future were laid.
At the time of the merger, Dré Schmitz, President of Atlas Copco Gas and Process, was responsible for sales and marketing. In an interview with G&P Stories, Schmitz casts his mind back to that early period, reflects upon key moments in the company’s history and speaks about what the future holds in store for the firm.
The company's commitment to deliver quality products and service to its customers in Europe is now truly a global undertaking. Today under Schmitz’s helm, Atlas Copco Energas has built up a local presence in the Far East, constructed its own production facility in China, and delivers its products to 90 countries around the world. The Anniversary Edition of the magazine celebrates a quarter-of-a-century journey that is only just beginning.
