Atlas Copco Gas and Process engineers expansion turbines featuring highly beneficial technical characteristics. Our high-pressure expander units can handle pressures as high as 110 bar. We are capable of fulfilling a variety of custom specifications within this broad capacity range, as our expansion turbines provide precise, continuous control between 10% and 150% of design flow. 

In air separation applications, we were the first to engineer cryogenic expansion turbines with dry gas seals, an innovation that provides optimum insulation and, as a result, maximum productivity. 

Expansion turbine operation is also the driving force in pressure letdown applications, natural gas treatment and the recovery of waste heat and energy from both process applications and natural resources. 

Perhaps most notably, our gas expanders are increasingly being implemented in geothermal applications—a growth market based on harnessing the renewable energy from natural geothermal resources.
